FOTD using Stila 'tis the season to dazzle' palette

Ever since I got all my pretty new makeup for Christmas I have been loving experimenting with all the different eyeshadow palettes and today I have used everything in the Stila 'tis the season to dazzle palette (including the blush & highlight) and liked the look I created so I thought I'd show you in a FOTD :)

Top to bottom, L to R: eyeshadows- candle, star, tinsel, wrapping, blush-cheer, highlighter- kitten.

So that was the look! I think all of the colours in this palette really compliment eachother and I was happy to see the kitten highlighter in it (which I now love!)

What else I'm wearing:
Face: Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation-51, Bobbi brown corrector-porcelain bisque, collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer-1 fair, Blush & highlight in palette.
Eyes: Illamasqua brow cake-thunder, Too faced shadow insurance, Benefit creasless cream shadow- skinny jeans (as a base), eyeshadows in palette, Maybelline gel liner, Covergirl lash blast mascara
Lips: Mac pro longwear lipcreme- overtime.

I think this palette is really cute and sleek and is such a good idea as it has all things you need for a party look or even a slightly more dramatic daytime look which is what I have done. I will definately be keeping an eye out for more of these little palettes.

Party eyes & Mac club dupe for £2.50!

Hello again :) Today I wanted to share with you a recent find which I am really impressed with. if you are familiar with Superdrugs' MUA (makeup academy) range you'll know that its super cheap and has quite a range of colours. The other day I spotted this really pretty eyeshadow trio for £2.50 and thought I'd pick it up to test and review if it was any good, which it is! First of all £2.50 is bloody amazing, that works out at 75p an eyeshadow!
I also noticed that the darkest shade in this trio is a possible Mac club dupe (I know there are loads out there, but it doesnt hurt to have one for £2.50).
So here are some pictures of the look I created with this duo followed by swatches and a swatch comparison with club.
MUA 'Innocence' eyeshadow trio

Highlight shade, lid shade & crease shade.. simples!

scuse the crazy hair lol! Wearing Mac Rebel on my lips.

MUA/Mac Club comparison:

The MUA shade is on the left and Mac club on the right. The red undertones are more apparent in the MUA shade, and I actually prefer it to club.

Overall I am really impressed with this eyeshadow trio. You wouldn't expect the most amazing quality for £2.50 but it really is decent!
This trio would make a great last minuite stocking filler or treat for yourself, so if your local superdrug stocks MUA I suggest you run out and snap this trio up!

Christmas Card making

Hello there! I thought I'd share with you what I've been up to today..making Christmas cards :) I love making Christmas and birthday cards for close family members and friends each year because I think it adds a personal touch and handmade cards might stand out from the other cards people recieve (winning you extra points ;)
So today it was my mission to make cards for a list of people, and with the aid of the complete Les Miserables soundtrack..my mission is now complete!

I have a huge box of card making stuff that I've built up over the last couple of years so I dug around to look for Christmassy things, and I also used Christmas stickers and postcards from Paperchase, present tags and a Christmas cardmaking kit from Marks & Spencers.

And heres the mess I've left behind...

... better get that tidied before mum gets home!

Christmassy FOTD- Gold eye & berry lip

Hello everyone! I am finally back home for the Christmas holidays and am feeling very relaxed, so you can expect loads of Christmassy posts for the next month :)
Today I am going out for a carvery (yum) but as I have loads of spare time now I thought I'd make some effort and do some pretty Christmas makeup.
I decided to use Mac's Honeylust eyeshadow after watching one of Nikkie Tutorial's videos where she used the eyeshadow wet with fix+ then applied it dry over the top. I am so glad she shared this technique as I have previously found it IMPOSSIBLE to work with Honeylust and with the fix+ technique it came out lovely!
So here is my FOTD:

Face: Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation- 51, Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer- mix of 1 fair & 2 light, Too faced chocolate soleil bronzer, Natural Collection blush- peach melba, Mac MSF- soft and gentle.

Eyes: Illamasqua brow cake-thunder, Too faced shadow insurance, Mac e/s- Nylon (browbone, inner corner) Honeylust (Lid: applied wet with Mac fix+ then applied dry over the top), Stila e/s bliss & sandstone (crease & lower lashline), Stila smudgestick eyeliner- damsel (upper & lower lashlines), Covergirl lash blast mascara.

Lips: Mac lipstick- Rebel

Hope you liked this look! I look forward to sharing more of my Christmas FOTD's with you, expect to see alot of gold and glitter :)

Celeb Inspired Makeup: Jessie J

Hello everyone, hope you are all well! For a while now I have been admiring Jessie J's makeup looks and have wanted to try one out, so when I saw her live performace of 'who you are' on youtube and fell in love with the look, I knew it was time to give it a try! If you are familiar with Jessie J's makeup looks you'll know that they are very creative and often involve bright pink or red lips and lots of gemstones, and I happen to be a big fan of a bright bold lip.
This look doesn't involve too many gemstones or craziness so I thought it would be a good one for me to try out, but that said it did take me bloody ages!
Here are a couple of screenshots I took from the video to show you the look I'm going for, followed by pictures of my attempt (I had to use flash because for some reason I decided to do this makeup at about 11pm):

My attempt:

Now obviously I don't look anything like Jessie J (don't have the fringe for a start) but I tried my best on the makeup. There were so many pretty neautrals on her eyelids I just had to work with what colours I thought looked similar. Also I stuck 2 little gemstones under each eye with eyelash glue, instead of Jessie's tear shaped ones...because who really has tear shaped gemstones?
As I said, the makeup look did take quite a long time, there was A LOT of blending to do on the eyes and I mixed some colours, so I'll list the products I used but you may have to use your imagination a little :)

Face: Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation- 51 light vanilla, collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer-1 fair, Natural collection blush- peach melba, Jemma kidd dewy glow radiance cream- rose gold.

Eyes: Illamasqua brow cake-Thunder, Too face shadow insurance, Mac eyeshadows: Nylon (inner corner & brow highlight), Patina (lid) with a little bit of woodwinked to warm it up, Sable & Satin taupe (mixed in the crease), Twinks (crease & lower lash line), Stilla matte black-ebony (blended in outer v/crease & lower lash line), 17 liquid liner-black (line along lid, inner & outer corner flicks), Maybelline lasting drama gel liner- black (waterline), Covergirl lash blast mascara

Lips: Chanel Rouge Allure Laque- Dragon

Hope you liked the look, I suppose minus the gemstones it would make a nice Christmas party look with the golds and the red lips :)

Christmas Lashes

Hello Ladies! Christmas is getting very close, the blogging world must be getting very excited for lots of new product reviews and hauls in the New year, I certainly am!
Just a quick little post before I go to bed because I did a spot of shopping today and wanted to share one of my buys with you.
I came across these lashes in the Debenhams sale today and thought they were so pretty with really nice packaging. They had them with a green strip of glitter or a gold strip of glitter, or a fuller set..but after about 20 mins of asking my boyfriend (and him shrugging) I settled on the green glitter lashes.

Annoyingly you can't see the glitter in this picture but it is really pretty and subtle. I can't wait to wear these to a Christmas party, and for £4.55 (link) (down from £6.50) I think they would make the perfect little stocking filler or gift for a friend.
Pretty much everything else is on sale in Debenhams at the moment (Mac & Benefit lashes too) which is verryyyyy tempting!

MAC Metal-X Cream shadow - Venetian tarnish

Hello again! Two blogs in two days, get me! The reason for this post is obvious from the title...I popped into my local Mac today not expecting to want anything and I stumbled across the Metal-X eyeshadows which I didn't even know were out yet! There were only about 4 shades in store so I'm not sure if the others were sold out or aren't released yet (on the Mac UK website some of the shades say 'coming soon'), but the one that caught my eye was Venetian Tarnish. I would describe the shade as a deep bronzey gold, slightly similar to Mac Woodwinked e/s which is one of my favourites.
The Metal-X Cream shadows retail at £15.50 which isn't cheap but you get 2.4g of product compared to the 1.3g side of normal mac eyeshadows. The Metal-X cream shadows are also described as multi-use products designed to give shine to the 'eyes, cheeks and decolletage'. I'm not sure about the shade I have for use other than on my eyes, but I'm sure it can be done with some of the lighter shades.

Here's some pictures (the best I could take in England's poor light!):

The Metal-X shadows come with a textured pattern (not sure why)
Im also wearing Bourjois healthy mix serum foundation in shade 51 which I'm really impressed with.

The cream shadow was really simple to apply, I applied it with my finger and blended it out into the crease with a Mac 217 brush (which you could also probably do with your fingers), and used a pencil brush ro apply on the lower lashline.
I can't tell you weather it creases or not yet because I've only been wearing it about 30 mins but if you wanted to be sure you could set it with a similar coloured eyeshadow (I reccomend Mac woodwinked for this shade.)
I think the Metal-X cream eyeshadows would be great if you are going anywhere over Christmas or New year and want a party eye look with only one product, something I might consider doing. I personally think the look this eyeshadow gives is the perfect festive party look, so I will definately be sticking this in my makeup bag over the holidays!

Mac lipstick collection

The other day, in the middle of 'doing work' I decided to get all of my Mac lipsticks out for a play, and to distract myself further I took pictures for this post. I think I did a similar post near the begginning of my blog but this is just my Mac lipsticks, and since then I have bought more..and lost a couple (cut a caper, impassioned and Innocence beware were the losses) :(
Anyone who is addicted to Mac lipsticks will know that the lipstick addicts collection is always a work in progress so this is definatly not my final collection but I am happy with what I have for now :)

The lipsticks attacked my work!
L to R: Prolongwear lipcream-overtime, Viva Glam gaga I (lustre), Chatterbox (amplified), Fusion Pink (amplified), Girl about town (amplified), sheen supreme- supremely confident, Honeylust (matte), Vegas Volt (amplified)

A few honourable mentions:
-
Out of these pinks/neutals/peach my most used lipstick is probably Chatterbox. Its a really under-rated shade and for me its the perfect not-too-barbyish barbie pink.
-I used to love Viva Glam Gaga 1 when I had red hair but find it's not as flattering with my brown hair..So I save it for when my hair is red.
-Fusion pink is my newest lipstick out of these and is the most standout of the lot, its definately a daring one.
-Supremely confident is pretty boring by itself but I have recently discovered that it is AMAZE over Mac Dervish lipliner. (or any neutraly-pink) A great layering shade.
-And Vegas volt is the most amazing summer shade.

Swatches:

L to R: Prolongwear lipcream-overtime, Viva Glam gaga I (lustre), Chatterbox (amplified), Fusion Pink (amplified), Girl about town (amplified)
sheen supreme- supremely confident, Honeylust (matte), Vegas Volt (amplified)

The purples-red:

L to R: Pro Longwear lipcream- Goes and Goes, Rebel (satin), Pro longwear lipcream-prolong, *Depotted* New York Apple (Frost)

Swatches:
L to R: Pro Longwear lipcream- Goes and Goes, Rebel (satin), Pro longwear lipcream-prolong, *Depotted* New York Apple (Frost)
Honourable mentions:
-Goes and Goes had become my go-to halloween lippy!
-For a while I wasnt keen on the satin formulation of Rebel but recently I've made it work for my by patting it into my lips and is one of my current faves- great winter berry shade
-Prolong is just an amazing red. I know its my only real red but I feel like its the only one I need, Its the perfect blue-toned red and the pro longwear formula means its amazingly longlasting-just what you want from a bold red.
-Poor little melted New York Apple. Love the name of this lipstick and this was my first Mac lipstick, so although I never wear it I am sentimentally attached to it!

So those were my Lipsticks! As you can see I'm pretty fond of my bold colours, I love wearing them on nights out! I never really buy neutrals from Mac because they kind of bore me and I feel like I should take advantage of some of the unique bolder shades Mac has to offer if im going to treat myself to one.
If you havn't already guessed it, Amplified is my favourite finish. The amplified lipsticks are the most pigmented of them all and the colour range is gorgeously bold & right up my street, with a really nice creamy longlasting finish.
I have three of the pro-longwear lipcreams and am really impressed with them. If the colour range of these were better I would have loads.
Another one of my absolute favourites was the limited edition Innocence, Beware! (from the venemous villains collection) which I recently finished/lost the last bit of in a club. It was a creamsheen finish and was a really flattering nude. Please re-promote it Mac!

What about you, Do you have any of these shades?
And What are your favourite Mac Lipsticks?

A few recent FOTN's

Hello bloggers :) Seeing as the weather in England is rubbish as usual and by the time I get in to take photos all lighting has gone, I thought I'd sift through a few of my recent photos from nights out and show you some of the makeup looks I have worn out recently.
There were an alarming number of photos (I think I need to stay in a bit more) and none of these were intended to be blog-posy so with a bit of carefull selecting/cropping drunken friends out I have scrambled together a few of looks, forgive any silly faces! You'll also notice alot of smokey eyes, I felt like it :)

In all of these pictures I am wearing Estee Lauder double wear foundation in shell, Rimmel lash accelorator mascara and Illamasqua brow cake in thunder on my brows.(thought I'd get that bit out of the way).
This first look is probably the most simple one. I'm wearing Mac Satin taupe e/s with Sketch in the crease and Nylon on the brow bone. Mac dark diversion fluidline and YSL waterproof eye pencil in plum in the lower lash line. On the lips I have Mac Dervish lip pencil and sheen supreme lipstick in supremely confident.

Heres a cheeky snap of me from haloween doing my friends makeup. I made my skin as pale as possible with white powder and used all kinds of grey eyeshadows for spooky contouring. The hint of red you can see on the lid is Urban decay Last call And on my lips I have Mac pro longwear lip cream in Goes and goes.

In this look I have on Bare Minerals loose eyeshadow in nude beach (if you can see a hint of glitter on the lid-thats it) and a grey inglot eyeshadow in the crease. On my lips is Mac Girl about town. The lace dress Im wearing I actually bought from Tesco's recently for £20 and I love it!
On my eyes in this look I have the Teal shade from Nars' Misfit eyeshadow duo with a matte black from a Sleek palette to smoke it out. On the cheeks I had Bourois Delice de soleil bronzer and Natural collection peach melba blush. Again on the lips I have Dervish and supremely confident.

For this look I felt like playing with lashes so I wore the Eyelure Naturalites Intense. The eyeshadow I used was from my new Too faced sweet dreams palette- the shade Cop a teal (an amazing eyeshadow! ) with smoulder in the crease. On my cheeks I had Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Blissful (not that you can see it) and the lipstick is Mac Pro longwear lip cream in Overtime.
The final look! I used the Wet n wild trio in Im getting sunburned (the lid and crease shades). I have on the same bourjois bronzer and Mac MSF in soft and gentle. Thought I'd stick a couple of gems on my face as well ;)

So there you go, thats a few of my looks from recent nights out..hope this wasn't too long-winded for you! Let me know which look you like best :)
